Reyelts strives for MIAC playoffs, team success

NAME: Tara Reyelts ’14

SPORT: Hockey

HOMETOWN: Grand Rapids, Mich.

HIGH SCHOOL: Forest Hills Eastern

MAJORS: English and African culture and colonialism

WHY I CAME TO OLAF: To play hockey and learn some stuff

HOCKEY HISTORY: I started playing hockey in fourth grade. I had been figure skating for the year or two previous, but became bored of that. My older brother started playing hockey, so I decided to follow suit. I played two years on a boys’ team. Then, from sixth grade through my senior year of high school, I played for the Grand Rapids Griffins girls’ team because there was no girls’ high school hockey.

PRE-GAME RITUAL: There are certain foods I always eat before games: a peanut butter and jelly sandwich; a mix of Goldfish, pretzels and raisins; and cereal. Right after our on-ice warm-up I eat a piece of chocolate. Chocolate is the new breakfast of champions.

FAVORITE PUMP-UP SONG: “‘Till I Collapse” by Eminem

FAVORITE SPORTS MOVIES: Tie between “Remember the Titans” and “Cool Runnings”

FAVORITE TV SHOW: “Pretty Little Liars.” No shame!

FAVORITE SPORT OTHER THAN HOCKEY: Track

RANDOM FACT: My favorite animal is the meerkat.

GOALS FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON: Make it to playoffs and get an MIAC Championship.
