Why ‘Spirited’ is the best Christmas movie

While beloved classics like “Elf” and “The Grinch” are perennial favorites during the Christmas season, there comes a time when a yearning for something fresh arises. If you find yourself in a similar boat, I can’t recommend this latest gem enough: ‘Spirited’—hands down, the best new Christmas movie on the block

‘Spirited’ is a delightful Christmas musical comedy released in 2022. Think of it as a contemporary spin on Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” but infused with lively music, spirited dance numbers, and the comedic genius of Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds. The storyline revolves around the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future uniting to redeem a new human soul. Enter Will Ferrell as the irrepressible Ghost of Christmas Present, on the verge of retirement for decades, but resolutely seeking a fresh soul for redemption. That’s when he encounters Clint Briggs, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds—a modern-day embodiment of Scrooge. Together, they embark on a heartwarming journey to mend their pasts and spread the joy of the holiday season.

What truly sets “Spirited” apart as the quintessential Christmas film is its seamless blend of heartfelt storytelling and uproarious humor. Beyond the star-studded cast and toe-tapping musical numbers, the movie strikes a perfect balance between touching moments of self-discovery and riotous laughter. It masterfully captures the essence of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of the holiday spirit. Moreover, the dynamic chemistry between Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds infuses the narrative with an irresistible charm that resonates long after the credits roll. The film’s ability to evoke genuine emotions while maintaining an infectious sense of merriment makes it a timeless addition to the pantheon of Christmas classics. “Spirited” not only entertains but also tugs at the heartstrings, leaving viewers with a warm, lasting impression of the true magic of Christmas.

This movie beautifully encapsulates the true essence of Christmas while delivering captivating dance sequences that define holiday cheer. The humor woven throughout is unparalleled, making ‘Spirited’ a must-watch this festive season.
