New Project (2)

We hope this message finds you as healthy and safe as possible. As the Coronavirus pandemic continues to spread, St. Olaf has responded accordingly and shifted from on-campus learning to a period of online education. This has forced the college community into a time of transition and confusion as we navigate this unfamiliar territory.

As with many campus organizations right now, The Mess shares in these perplexing times as we manage writing, gathering and producing the paper virtually. Though we will not be able to print physical copies of the paper for the rest of the semester, we will continue producing content for the St. Olaf community.

We plan to follow our regular weekly schedule, and new articles will be posted to the website every Thursday, beginning today, April 9th. You should also be on the lookout for our annual April satire edition of the paper, which will be uploaded on April 16th. We hope that this issue will make you laugh amidst the chaos of our current world.

Furthermore, we hope that any of you out there with interesting things to say will continue writing for the paper even though it has moved entirely online. This is a perfect time to hone your writing skills and get involved!

We will plow forward in our hiring process for next year, with the hopes of gathering a strong community of staff. The Mess strives to engage more and more students on campus and produce journalism that all students find important and relevant with each issue. Please apply to be part of these pursuits, as we would love to have you.

If you have any questions about The Mess going forward this semester, or would like to get involved in any way, please email mess-exec@stolaf.edu and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We are honored to continue to serve this community with content even when we may be thousands of miles apart.

Sincerely,

Jacob Maranda and Grace Peacore
