The Best Part of Lunch

“Charlie! Did you get any today?” I held up my peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He grinned, showing me his turkey melt. We scarfed them down, leaving the best part for last. The wax paper. I stuffed it in my pocket before Ms. Johnson saw me and said, “go!” We beat everyone else to the metal slide and waxed like we had never waxed before. Soon the little kids came flying out to recess, and we watched them zip off the slide and launch into the air. Charlie laughed so hard he fell off the monkey bars. Best. Day. Ever.
